Deck 4 is an ideal place for nice photos. As the ship was in port, Casino Royale was not in operation. We took a few photos before finding our way to our rooms on deck 3.

Our bags were already at the door when we got to our room. That was fast! However, one of the bags was in the wrong place 2 rooms away. We entered the room with a Sea Pass Card. It was a small nice cozy room with a round window overlooking the sea. The room could fit 4 people because there were 2 extra beds on the roof that can be pulled down.

We didn’t stay in the room long. We went to deck 5 to explore and found the Café Promenade packed with people. We drank coffee in a paper cup and the announcement was made. All guests had to gather in the assembly area on deck 4 or 5 (where the lifeboats are) for a mandatory muster assembly (for emergency evacuation). With the ship’s whistle blowing and alarm bells ringing, we proceeded to our assembly station. The meeting point number is printed on the right side of the SeaPass card where it is written in alphabet and numbers, eg B11 for us. When we arrived we had to check our name and room number with the relevant crew. I think we stood there for over 30 minutes waiting for all the guests to gather. There were old people who couldn’t stand the heat and had to sit on the floor. Poor people. 😦 There were some guests who didn’t show up and got a serious warning. Some commented that the announcement was made in English and was probably not understood by the absent guest.

(Tips: If you want to see them up close, especially if you have kids who love them, try to be on standby at the Cafe Promenade area at least 15 minutes in advance. The characters are set up on the steps quite early and you can be sure that there will be a crowd of curious people too. To get the full view, I recommend going to the balcony on deck 6 or 7 where you can see the entire Royal Promenade.) When we heard about the show, we were quite late (~5 minutes before the show started) and even the balconies are full. So we went to deck 8. We have a pretty good view too!

The official headquarters dining time is 5:30 p.m. We were a bit late watching the parade. The Sapphire Dining Room on Deck 4 was already quite full, but that’s okay because everyone is assigned a table number. Please note that some tables may be on deck 3. If you have kids, you can try to order something that kids like… like pizza, cakes, muffins… if they can find it in their kitchen, they will try to fulfill your request. The waiters and waitresses are usually very friendly and helpful!

While I was waiting for our food, I went to pick up our ice show tickets with our Sea Passes from Studio B, Deck 3, just below the dining room. (Tips: 1 pick-up delegate for all members is enough, but don’t forget to bring their cards too) There were several timing options to choose from (both day 1 and day 4). The best time for us was at 20:30. A free Welcome Aboard pack was also distributed in the art gallery, just off the dining room. Package includes 1 art print and additional art auction information.
